I’m going to tell you what is PERFECT at a 4th of July party. A delicious (I swear you won’t be able to put it down) bowl of Russian Cream. You’re in luck … we are sharing that recipe with you today and showing you some fun patriotic gifts to give someone or even yourself! Before we jump headfirst into that dreamy bowl of tastiness, we want to showcase the 4th of July weekend in Frankenmuth.
If you’re looking for a place to visit this Fourth, we encourage you to check Frankenmuth out! Whether you plan on camping or staying at one of the many hotels here, you will enjoy just walking around and taking in the beautiful scenery that this magical town has to offer.
Fourth of July weekend in Frankenmuth is filled with many festivities. If you are a runner, you should definitely check out Volksläufe (The People’s Race) that takes place on July 4. The weekend also includes inflatables for children, a spaghetti dinner, live bands, food and beverages, a runner’s marketplace and fireworks!
Bronner’s offers a variety of patriotic ornaments, and what better way to show off your love for America than by having a tree that is all red, white and blue? Here are a few of the many ornaments we sell in-store and online that would look fantastic on your patriotic tree!
Are you planning a party and need a string of lights to help set the patriotic mood? How about these! They are perfect for your summer 4th of July bash and they can be found online and in-store!
If you are having people stay over, I would suggest investing in a quality nightlight. I mean, I can’t deny that I have had to use my phone as a flashlight to find my way to a bathroom in the middle of the night at someone’s house before! (Admit it, you have, too!) So make sure you have this patriotic nightlight to help light the path for your guests.
Okay, I bet you’re thinking, “Where is that dreamy bowl of Russian cream you were talking about?” It’s here; it’s finally here! Full disclosure: when we were making this dessert I thought, “This doesn’t look like anything too special.” BUT, my taste buds were hit with flavorful vanilla and a spoonful of heaven on earth, Truly, people, HEAVEN ON EARTH. It’s something that will take you by surprise, and it is a MUST HAVE at your next party.
Instead of putting ours in a 5-cup mold, we just put it in a glass bowl and garnished it with some sliced strawberries. This dish was a huge hit at the office the next day!
I can still remember taking my first bite of this creamy deliciousness and the look of excitement on both my face and Aileen’s (our wonderful photographer and fellow blogger). The ideas started popping in our heads of the many different ways you could garnish this dessert. She had the fantastic idea of sprinkling some cinnamon onto the dish.
If you’re looking to take this to your 4th of July bash, add some blueberries to the strawberries to really hit the red, white and blue theme home! You can find this recipe in “Bronner’s Flavorful Favorites Book 2” staff cookbook, which you can purchase online and in-store.
Dreamy Russian Cream Dessert

– 1/2 cup cold water
– 1 pint half-and-half cream
– 1 cup of sugar
– 1 container of sour cream (16 oz.)
– 1 tsp. vanilla
– 2 cups of strawberries, blueberries or peaches
– 5-cup jello mold or glass bowl
1. Combine gelatin with cold water and set aside.
2. Heat half-and-half cream and sugar to the scald stage over medium heat.
3. Remove from heat.
4. Stir gelatin into the cream mixture.
5. Add sour cream and vanilla.
6. Pour into a 5-cup mold or glass bowl and refrigerate overnight.
7. When set, turn mold onto a large plate or you can leave the cream in a glass bowl.
8. Garnish generously with fruit and serve.
For a variation on this dessert, you can substitute your favorite fruit, add chocolate or try almond extract instead of vanilla.
We hope you enjoy this recipe and that you come to visit us in Frankenmuth this 4th of July! What traditions do you have for the 4th?
